How did I get here? Since joining Validus Re Singapore Branch, I have had an exceptional professional journey from a Personal Assistant to an Assistant Underwriter. I first started as a Personal Assistant to the CEO Asia Pacific when the branch was established in Singapore in 2009 and moved over to underwriting in 2012 when the opportunity arose.
What am I doing now? I face exciting challenges every day and am grateful for the strong and supportive managers I have to help me, through on-the-job training and making themselves available for questions and insight. I also have opportunities to attend relevant professional courses to develop my technical knowledge, and to attend industry events to broaden my market perspective.
What is a typical day like? My day usually consists of reviewing treaty contracts, collecting necessary information, assessing the risks of the deal, calculating prices for reinsurance coverage and developing client/broker relationships. Validus Re is a great place for my incredible growth and one of the best learning years in my career.
